Update on School Closure Measures as at 20.03.2020

As you will now be aware Marshland High School will be closed on Friday 20th March for most students until further notice.

As you will now be aware Marshland High School will be closed from 3:15pm today, Friday 20th March 2020 for most students until further notice.

Children of Key Workers/Vulnerable Children

From Monday 23rd March we will be open only for children of key workers on roll at this school and those children who are on roll who are most vulnerable, such as those with Educational Health Care Plans. A list defining key workers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educationalprovision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

If you are a parent/guardian of a vulnerable child or who is a key worker, and need to continue to send your child to school please follow the link below to register your child with us from Monday.

If you are a key worker and not working from home, it is essential due to significantly reduced staffing, that you only send in your child if they are not old enough or able to be left at home safely and/or you have no alternative child care arrangements. Remember children should not be left with elderly relatives or vulnerable friends or family.

It is important to remember that as from 3:15pm today Marshland High School is closed to the general school population as stated by the Government to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Normal school lessons will not run. School transport will continue to be available from Monday. The only entrance will be through the main reception. Students must attend in full school uniform. The link to register your child to continue to attend school from 23rd March is: https://forms.gle/d6ZbugZBihBKBwL88

It is essential that this registration is completed before 9:00am Sunday 22nd March

There will be limited catering facilities available at school. If you are not entitled to Free School Meals, but your child will be attending next week, please ensure that you either send your child with food and a water bottle, or have enough money on your account to buy food in the usual way.

Free School Meals

If your child is in receipt of free school meals and will not be attending school from Monday 23rd March, Tesco will issue you a voucher on a weekly basis to the email address that school has for your child’s main contact. Please ensure the school has your correct email address or you will not receive the Tesco voucher.

Home learning

Work for home learning will be issued via Show My Homework. SMHW also gives the option to ask questions to your child’s teacher about the work being set, to which they can respond. Please see the school website for further guidance and support regarding the home learning that we have provided. If you have advised us that you do not have computer or internet access at home you will be receiving print information and/or loan equipment for children to work on. If you have not received anything by Tuesday 24th March, please contact the office. Students intending to attend Springwood High School 6th form in September can access a number of “Summer Tasks” and work for each of the subjects they intend to study from Springwood’s website during the next term. It is important that year 11 students continue to work during the forthcoming months and complete this work.
