Skills for Life (PSHE) is taught across the curriculum. In Year 7 and 8 they have one lesson a fortnight and in Year 9 they spend half the year studying skills for life (the rest of the year is spent studying Culture and Beliefs.) In Year 10 and 11 skills for life is taught through curriculum sessions and a series of sessions taken by outside agencies.
In Year 7 pupils find out about themselves as individuals, including how to keep themselves healthy and how to be a good member of their community.
In Year 8 pupils look at themselves as part of a bigger community, including focusing on different features of Britain and the World.
In Year 9 pupils look at some of the risks facing them, including smoking, alcohol, drugs and relationships.
Some lessons are led by outside organisations, where appropriate.
