What the Music department may lack in size and space it certainly makes up for in enthusiasm, drive and enjoyment. The teacher of music, Mr. Wicks is backed up by dedicated peripatetic instrumental teachers who all aim to make music at Marshland High School an enjoyable and richly rewarding experience for all.

Concerts

Music 01Music 02Regular end of term concerts provide a platform for students to perform in front of an audience of appreciative parents. These concerts are also instrumental in the development of pupils performing skills and confidence.

Tuition

Instrumental tuition is available to all pupils and in a variety of different instruments.

Key Stage 4

At KS4 pupils study for the Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Music. A Pass, Merit or Distinction grade in this is equivalent to a GCSE pass at grades A* to C. Pupils choose specialist options from a range of different musical topics (including Performing and Recording Techniques) with a view to working within the music industry. The course is mostly coursework with one 60 minute examination.
