Roles and Responsibilities
The role of a School Prefect is not limited to one thing and will include: assisting teaching staff in their lessons, supervising the canteen corridor and queues, organising activities and maintaining order in the School. Discipline of Prefects
- Prefects should act as the role model for all the students in the School.
 - Prefects must adhere to School Rules and Regulations at all times.
 - The main duty of prefects is to maintain an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, peace, discipline and unity in the School.
 - Prefects should serve as counsellors to younger students.
 - Prefects must liaise and collaborate with each other, as a team, to ensure efficiency and smooth running of their own area of responsibility and of the school as a whole.
 - Prefects academic and behavioural standards must be maintained.
 - Prefects will always work in the interest of the school.
 - They should follow the code of conduct promoting the core values.
 
The Role of a School Prefect
Our prefects are ambassadors for our school and we expect each of them to embrace the general duties outlined below;
In performing duties as School Prefect, each prefect will be expected to:
- Support the ethos of the school and promote the core values
 - Respect the rules and regulations of the school and observe the school rules at all times
 - Be dressed appropriately at all times. Prefects shall wear their badge and tie that distinguishes their role at all times
 - Be punctual for duties and attend all Prefect meetings where possible
 - Maintain an excellent academic and behaviour record and lead by example, ensuring the pursuit of academic excellence and orderly behaviour
 - Be positive and enthusiastic, encouraging and motivating fellow students
 - Be cooperative, helpful, well-mannered, trustworthy, and responsible
 - Be respectful toward teachers, your peers, and the school environment
 - Display leadership qualities: confidence, initiative, problem-solving skills
 - Be willing to take on extra responsibilities
 - Be able to work independently and complete tasks
 - Prefects shall work together as a single body to promote cohesiveness and discipline in all their domains
 - Prefects will attend all school events and activities when required where possible, and will be expected to help and lead
 - Prefects must be excellent ambassadors for the school, representing the school image positively
 - Prefects will carry out tasks and jobs as may be directed by staff
 
Senior Prefect Roles
Pupil voice Prefects: (Head Boy/ Head Girl)
- Chair Student council meetings
 - Promote student voice around the school
 - Meet with SLT regarding student council feedback
 - Compile and produce a prefect termly newsletter to students
 - To act as ambassadors for the school at whole school events
 
Charity Prefects: (senior prefect)
- To participate in promoting charitable events
 - To support with organisation of events relating to specific charities
 - To create a termly ‘Charity Update’ for the prefect School Newsletter
 - To liaise with Events Prefects to organise and lead one charity initiative per long-term (Autumn, Spring, Summer)
 
Events Prefects: (senior prefect)
- To support with marketing whole school events
 - To support Charity prefects with termly initiatives
 - To attend all whole school events and act as tour guides/provide refreshments
 - To collect information regarding extra-curricular activities, lunch activities and support staff with developing and launching these activities.
 - To organise interform competitions (non-sporting)
 
Duty Prefects: (senior prefect)
- To produce a monitoring duty rota for all prefects
 - To be responsible for making sure prefects are always on duty at break and lunch times
 - To help with behaviour and promoting schools values
 
Sports Prefects: (senior prefect)
- Represent sport in school.
 - Organise House matches and assist with the running of sports day.
 - Work with the sports ambassadors
 - Promote sporting activities and support PE department with the organization running of sporting fixtures.
 - Liaising with Head of PE and PE department with staff assigning duties as necessary.
 - To create a termly ‘Sports Update’ for the school prefect newsletter.
 
Student pastoral support Prefects: (senior prefect)
- Support students
 - Run an open room to support students with issues
 - Promote anti bullying
 - Promote mental health awareness
 
Year Group: (senior prefect)
- Liaising with DS, SSW, pastoral managers and form tutors assigning duties as necessary.
 - Help with transition of primary to secondary students
 - Help to support intervention where needed
 
Subject/Curriculum: (senior prefect)
- Give help to subject leaders to promote clubs/trips
 - Liaising with Subject leaders and with staff assigning duties as necessary.
 - Help to support intervention where needed
