Teacher Training Opportunities:

So you want to be a teacher ...have you got what it takes?

  • Have you got a degree?
  • Have you got English and mathematics GCSE at grade C or above?
  • Are you determined, enthusiastic, caring, inspiring, motivating?
  • Do you have a passion for your subject that you want to share?

If you are interested in becoming a teacher, Marshland High School currently offers secondary teacher training with two key partners, Ambition Institute and Cambridge Partnership.

Ambition Institute

England’s largest professional development provider for teachers and school leaders.  Ambition trainees will gain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from Liverpool Hope University, and attend professional studies in Chatteris on Wednesdays (please note Ambition trainees do not travel to Liverpool).  Delivery of your teacher training course takes place face-to-face one day per week at Cromwell Community College if you choose our Ambition Institute route.  Through this route, you would be based at one school for the majority of your training, with a short period at a contrasting placement.  To find out more, visit the Ambition Institute website.

The Cambridge Partnership

Part of the Meridian Trust initial teacher training provider, Cambridge Partnership is centred in Cambridgeshire with schools across Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire and Northampton.  This is a blended approach to training with two of the three terms at your main placement school and the other term at your contrasting placement school.  Delivery of the teacher training takes place on Fridays and can be a mixture of online sessions, face-to-face sessions at Springwood High School in King’s Lynn, or Glebe School in Hunstanton, or other agreed venues.

The lead school for the East Education Consortium is Springwood High School. Your initial application must go to Springwood, who will pass your application on to us for consideration. To find out more: https://campartnership.org/

These courses lead to achieving QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).  In addition to an internationally recognised Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), which forms part of the Ambition Institute programme, but is an optional pathway within Cambridge Partnership.  A PGCE will also give you credits if you want to complete a Masters in the field of education later in your career.  Both options mean that you will spend time in Marshland High School or one of our local partner schools.

We have been involved in training teachers to teach for decades. This means that when you choose to train with us, you can be sure that you will learn your craft with our expert-led team of experienced mentors and our dedicated ITT (Initial Teacher Training) Team. We will provide you with expert support from your own mentor, who is there to support, challenge and encourage you as you learn.

Teaching Internships Programme: New for 2026

We are excited to announce that Cromwell Community College is offering the Teaching Internships Programme which is now open to potential trainee teachers interested in teaching:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Modern Foreign Languages

Successful interns will be paid £1365 (£455 per week).

These internship positions are for undergraduates in their second, third or final year, and masters students, who are studying for a degree in STEM-related subjects or languages.  Our programme gives university students experience of teaching before they commit to it as a career.  This programme is part of the Get into Teaching service, supporting prospective teachers through their journey into the profession.

Internships will take place between Monday 8 to Friday 26 June 2026.  You can apply now to be a part of our first cohort in 2026.  During your time on the programme, you can expect to teach, observe lessons, support other teachers, shadow experienced colleagues, meet trainee teachers and learn how to manage a classroom with your own dedicated mentor.
