On 21st March the Year 11s had a presentation from an ex-student, Gary Chapman, Squadron Leader,in the RAF, who talked to them about ambition and careers.
Squadron Leader Chapman explained about all the wonderful experiences and responsibilities he has had already in his career. He then pointed out that he had been a Marshland student just like them and hadn’t found doing exams easy. But he worked hard at them, and his reward has been a very enjoyable and interesting career.
After the presentation to Year 11 he did some group work with students from Years 8 – 11 on careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Then at 10:00, all the students and staff came out of lessons to witness a special low fly-past of two Tornados from RAF Marham at 1000 feet that Gary had organised as part of a routine training sortie. They were flying so fast that we had barely realised that they were on the horizon when they were already above us and the noise was amazing.
We would like to thank Gary very much for this special tribute to Marshland and for his inspiring and motivational presentations.
