Marshland High School

Curriculum Departments

The curriculum at Marshland High School offers a broad and balanced range of subjects designed to maximise the life chances of all students.  It aims to ensure that students are:

  • aware of their abilities and develop them to their maximum potential;
  • aware of the needs of the community and are prepared to contribute fully to the life of the community;
  • articulate, literate and numerate young people with lively, enquiring and independent minds;
  • confident in their dealings with adults and peers, are able to develop good working relationships with others;
  • knowledgeable of a wide range of cultures and, through this, come to respect the rights and needs of others;
  • able to make good moral judgements;
  • adaptable enough to react to our rapidly changing world;
  • prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

The curriculum comprises all learning experiences that the school plans for its students, including tutor lessons, trips and visits, extra-curricular activities, and assemblies. Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural development and British Values are promoted across the curriculum as well as specifically through Skills for Life lessons, tutor lessons, and assemblies.
