Marshland High School

Under 12 Basketball Success

Just before half term, we entered two teams into the Under 12s basketball tournament. A massive thank you has to go to Cameron Lawson who came to coach one of the teams as without him we would only have been able to enter one team.  13 of the 14 players who played that night were making their debut for the school basketball team.

The A team were one game away from becoming District Champions.  They had gone through the tournament unbeaten going into the last game and they took on Springwood.  A good start and a basket from Kristers Skriban meant we went 2-0 up, but Springwood scored three late baskets to win 6-2.

In their first three games before that game, the team beat KLA B 12-0, Smithdon 8-2 and then drew with KLA A 4-4, after that three more wins followed against KES B 8-6, the eventual champions, KES A,  10-4 and our B team 10-2.

That meant that the A team finished in joint second place, which is a fantastic effort. Players of the tournament were Kaspar Adomavicius, who score 20 points, and captain Ben Dear, who scored 14.
