English

The English Department consists of seven full time teachers.

Each teacher is encouraged to teach each year group supporting and challenging individual pupils. We operate an ‘open door’ lunch time policy where pupils can seek further support from any member of the Department should they need it.

Our main aim is engage pupils in the joys that come from studying English in a variety of forms. Through this enjoyment, pupils make progress and learn the skills they need to follow their chosen career path.

The Department believes in the pupils experiencing English outside of the classroom through a number of trips. We frequently visit Shakespeare’s Globe theatre and we often experience performances from touring theatre companies, writers and poets coming into school. The Department also work closely with the library with a weekly Reading Club, World Book Day and other such events.
