Welcome to the world of Sociology; it doesn’t matter which topic or area of Sociology is described; people always reply, ‘that sounds interesting!’ Sociology looks at the modern world and the influences that make us who we are and the forces that shape our lives. Content: In GCSE Sociology there are two different units studied; one in year 10 and one in year 11. There is no coursework in GCSE Sociology.
Resources:We use the exam board approved text book ‘AQA Sociology’ by Coates, Gilpin, Owens and Woodfield and published by Nelson Thornes. There are copies of these books in the school library. Also recommended but completely optional is 'GCSE Sociology', a revision book by Pauline Wilson and published by Collins. These will also be available in the library shortly.Websites:There are relatively few GCSE websites for Sociology and the internet can be a minefield of varying quality; the following are recommended websites:
