Area served by the school:Emneth, Emneth Hungate, Marshland st James, St John's Fen End, Terrington St John, The Smeeth, Tilney St Lawrence (excluding Islington), Walpole Highway, Walpole St Andrew, (Market Lane only as far as Bustards Lane, N.B. part of King John Bank is in Lincolnshire), Walpole St Peter, Walsoken (Norfolk), Walton Highway, West Walton If there are more requests for admissions than places available, the School’s Governing Body will admit children in the following order of priority:
Criterion 1
Children in public care who are due to transfer Criterion 2 Children who are due to transfer and already live in the area served by the school. Criterion 3 Children who have an older brother or sister at the school at the time of admission. Criterion 4Where there are exceptional medical grounds – supported by a doctor’s certificate – which make it clear that it is essential rather than just desirable that the child is admitted to Marshland High School. Criterion 5
Any other applications (i.e. those which do not meet any of the above criteria) will be considered by distance (as measured by a straight line) of the child’s home address from Marshland High School.
Those wishing to transfer from a school at any other age than 11 years old will be subject to the above criteria and will also require formal and informal assessment, together with the approval of their current Headteacher. Where there is more than one applicant within the same criterion, the child residing nearest to the school will be offered the place.
